ELA
Our English Language Arts program is built on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), which emphasize reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language as essential skills for success in school and life. From kindergarten through 8th grade, students move from learning how to read to using reading and writing as tools for critical thinking and self-expression.
In the early grades, students focus on building strong foundations in phonics, fluency, and comprehension while also developing vocabulary and background knowledge. As they progress into the upper elementary and middle school years, the focus expands to analyzing complex texts, supporting ideas with evidence, and writing for a variety of purposes. By 8th grade, students are prepared to engage with challenging literature and informational texts, communicate clearly, and think deeply about ideas—skills that set them up for high school and beyond.
