Social Studies

Our social studies curriculum is designed to engage, grow, and empower students as active citizens in their communities and the world. Grounded in the Illinois Learning Standards for Social Science, it emphasizes inquiry, critical thinking, and connecting history and current events to students’ own lives.

In the primary grades, students learn about their community, traditions, and the responsibilities of citizenship. As they move through the elementary years, they expand their studies to include state and U.S. history, geography, and economics—building an understanding of how people, places, and systems shape one another. By middle school, students explore U.S. and world history, government, and global issues, while practicing the skills of analyzing sources, forming arguments, and considering multiple perspectives. By the end of 8th grade, students are prepared to enter high school with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to participate thoughtfully in civic life.
