  • About Sean Connelly

    Sean Connelly comes to Gavin with 17 years of experience in the field of Special Education, as he has served as a classroom aide, classroom teacher, and administrator.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education (with an emphasis in social studies) from Northeastern Illinois, his LBS1 from Roosevelt University and his Masters of Education in School Leadership from Roosevelt University.  He brings his passion for building and sustaining positive and long-lasting relationships through his training in Restorative Practices and Trauma-Informed Care. Having raised a child with severe anxiety, he brings an understanding of how anxiety can have a negative impact on the educational environment for students.  It is his goal to help provide successful educational opportunities, which combines rigorous academic instruction with strong social emotional teaching to help ALL students find success at Gavin and beyond.

  • About Special Services

    Welcome to Gavin District 37 Special Services office. Gavin School District 37 offers a full continuum of special education and related service to children grades Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8 that have been identified with having a disability under the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

    The goal of special education and related services is to support each child and address their individual needs. An Individualized Education Program (IEP) is developed in collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and special service staff on a yearly basis minimally. All service decisions are team driven with the least restrictive environment as our focus. 

    We have Structured Learning and Life Skills classrooms that focuses on students with academic needs, social-emotional needs, multiple needs, and needs that may fall on the Autism Spectrum. In addition, we offer the following services:

     Assistive Technology  Psychological/Social Work
     Health Assistants  Speech and Language
     Hearing Itinerants  Vision Itinerants
